Removing a baked-in water pump gasket

Hi all,

I'm finishing a complete overhaul of my Yamaha F40B, and the water pump gasket (between the base and the plate), which must be many years old, is stuck tightly.

Do you have any suggestions for removing the gasket residue without damaging the base gasket surface?

Cheers
Pascal

Use a fresh Stanley blade on it's side like a scraper and it'll come off no probs.

Thanks, I've proceeded that way then removed left over residue with C7 solvent.
