I’ll keep an eye out. I can either get a mariner fitted by the weekend or I can wait a little longer and get a better deal/ better engine. That does mean I will have no boat for this season though.

The merc is a 3L 4 pot engine and only delivering 150 ponies ensures that the engine is never really stressed and there is also a good deal of low down torque.

Could you imagine if I had a brand new engine fitted. First test drive out the transom snaps and the engine just sinks. I would be so pissed off

Transom is apparently fine with no delamination, just needs gouging out and refilling in the winter. Injectors were cleaned last summer and now need cleaning. Does anyone else have any experience of injectors gumming up after low hours of use. We have only used it for around 10 hours this year. They’re quite expensive so it would be ideal not to replace them.

Have you checked the internal condition of the vst tank? If they have had water in the pump rusts & flakes off leaving rust deposits in the tank. I wouldn't replace injectors without looking inside the vst. Bit of a pita on a 150 yam as the intake manifold needs to come off. aquatec marine engineering in west sussex specialise in testing & overhauling injectors possibly a cheaper option than new

Could be issues with E10 especially if any water in fuel system ….

A mate has been out in Spain trying to redirect a 2004 Yamaha that haven’t been used for 10+ years said the fuel tank smelt like turps and injectors not spraying suspected clogged he was packing them in his car to bring back to the U.K. and try again next year with steering and trim controls and trying again …… has a 2 stroke out there to try and sort too but st heard on the 4 stroke

Bruno, if going to the expense of a full injector overhaul, definitely worth going through the complete fuel system from tank to injectors, change all the filters, flush and clean everything, then you know it's all right

Definitely not ! BP will never have a rib above an unbraked trailer and is now traveling britain in his camper with small boat behind and his drone collection on the roofrack ,heard he has now bought a small renari hard boat ,exactly the same as our resident prop expert (and yes wheel did fall off ten miles out of southampton to stick with tradition ,however this time the aa relay claimed the trailer was un roadworthy and charged him £1k back to suffolk )

So please dont spoil another genuine post suggesting this !
