retro fitting tiller arm

Hi all

Thinking of buying a used Yamaha 50 FETL 2008 model with remotes. Is it a major hastle to convert it to tiller control? Does anyone know what model of tiller I would need and is it an expensive option?

thanks in advance
Hector.

Not sure about that particular engne, but as a general rule there will likely be a differnet cam inside to attatch the tiller throttle (tillers tend to have an open & close bowden, as they use flexible ones like your bicycle brakes, whereas remotes use a "push - pull" so no need for the return cable to pull it shut). If it's '08 the gearshift may be on the tiller assembly?

Other thing you wil lneed to do is fit a deadman switch, but again if it's an 08 model there is a reasonable chance that will be on the tiller assy as well. If not there will be a press- out on the front of lower tray for it.

My guess is if you buy the tiller assy new, be sitting down when they quote you.
