Ribtec 650, Verado 200HP or 225HP

Dear Friends

Last minute call for engine choice...

Boat is only rated for 130HP, (Ex Camel).

All equipment is stripped off. About 200 kg.

First choice was the 200 HP but, not much more money, 6 cylindre, power steering etc. 225 too much ?

Cheers Thomas

That much extra weight and hp hanging on the back of an older boat?

Im sure others will come along and add, but they give a rated hp for a reason

Had one of these boats a few years back. 115hp Mercury 2 stroke. Ample power and speed even fully loaded.

Go for the 200hp you'll be fine and it's prob not worth the extra cash. My Ribctec 585 had a 135hp Optimax and it was sweet as!

Might be worth checking out the pic of the reinforcing I had on my 150hp Optimax powered Humber 5.5m and it was a good safe boat

Enjoy the ponies!

Some of the 655s were rated to 200hp. I'd make sure your transom is 100% before bolting 200hp on the back of one that was only rated to 130!
