Rigging a Yam480

Good morning everyone. I'm new to the forum. Great stuff and knowledge here.

I live in Miami. Active boater and purchased a nautica tender like a year ago and now I'm on my second RIB and loving it. Just bought a 1999 YAM480. Love the look and space. Not a common brand here in the states. It came with a 2002 yamaha 50hp 2 stroke but it needs some work. I have a really good deal on a Yamaha 60hp 4 stroke but I don't find info on the Yam480 if that's too much weight/power for that hull. It comes with a 9 gallon fuel tank under the seat which adds weight to the transom as well. The tubes are big and they seem to hold the weight of the 2 stroke engine very well.

Can anyone help me on this.

Thanks
Alex

Hi
I've got one with a Yam 50HP two stroke. The boat is rated for a maximum of 70HP (at least it says so on the plate which is attached on the seat)
Enjoy
Cheers
Neil

Well.. A really good deal came thru on a 2007 Yamaha 70hp 2 stroke and went for it. I hope its not too over powered. Any YAM 480 owners feel free to tell me what they think. Thanks!

I have (almost) exact same setup on mine. Only my outboard is 2002.
I was wondering about the "hydrofoil" flipper on your cavitation plate...

What is the verdict on this? Is it worth it putting it on?
