Rigging Honda outboard to Yamaha 703 remote

just about to rig Honda outboard to Yamaha 703 remote. any tips?

was thinking inside jockey console connect following wires - colour to colour - will that going to work?

Ground -- Yamaha Black - Honda Black
Starter -- Yamaha Brown - Honda Black/white
RPM gauge -- Yamaha Green - Honda Gray
Remote choke -- Yamaha Blue - Honda Brown
Trim down -- Yamaha light green - Honda light blue
Battery+ continuous -- Yamaha Red - Honda Black/white
Trim up -- Yamaha light blue - Honda light green
Engine stop -- Yamaha white - Honda Black/red
Battery+ ignition key on -- Yamaha yellow - Honda white/black

any tips welcome on what would be best way to connect the wires

Just make sure you have the correct throttle cam in the 703 to match the Honda. Older Honda is pull to open. All Modern Yamaha is push to open.

ok thanks Davie, didn't think of that. So of course rigging did't work out this Honda is pull to throttle and the Yamaha 703 at hand is push to throttle. Back to eBay then...

I don't have any left but ffs please don't try and reverse the moon to swap it from push to pull unless you get a proper machine shop to make new rivets. I had one about a month ago that failed which caused the throttle to Jam at full bore.

Very easy to do. All you need is part number 703-48261-11. Its only £63 + vat. You still need to flip the disc on the back of the fast idle lever though.

ok so I bought a second hand Yamaha 6X0 flush mount remote as I thought it can do both push and pull-to-open throttle. However I don't have an installation manual and am not sure how to install it.

Right now it is configured for push-to-open. Also I wanted to install it right hand side of the jockey console and appears the throttle opens more in reverse than in forward?

Any tips how to install very much appreciated many thanks.

It can be done but the problem you will have is the slot where red neutral interlock goes into the plastic moulding as the kill switch will interfere with the handle. You will need a 10mm socket and small circlip pliers to reverse the cam. The limit stopper for the throttle is the easy bit, On the outside of the alloy case there is 2 grub screws with normal screwdriver slots with 10 mm lock nuts. Slacken the locknuts and swap the grub screws one is about 25mm longer. I Will have instructions if you get stuck.

thanks figured it out. The mechanical installation works now. Still to finish electrics like key start, neutral switch and so forth.
