Rude E-tec sinks yamaha

Its official the E-tec has bags more torque than a fourstroke yam
Remember though ribers don't try this at home

It does however rubbish Evinrudes claim that Etecs are quieter than 4-strokes...

Still would rather have an E-tec than a fourstroke though

Yep.... it's like Vauxhall saying thay can match Lexus for quality and reliability!

What they don't mention is that Evinrude engines can't live up to their economy claims in the real world and their propellors are useless junk. All imho of course and based on heresay....

Yamaha's are awesome engines but so are the rudes.

haven't heard of too many problems with the E-tec yet either, unlike vauxhall

I'm going to use this boat that i have now for a couple of seasons and then get myself a vipermax or ribcraft, will also be a toss up between a 150 yam or a rude E-tec to go on the back? difficult choices it is.

Things may change enormously in two years, but it's worth keeping your ear to the ground and listening to people who put lots of hours on their boats. The 150 engines won't have prop problems, it only affects 200hp+ engines as far as I know. I'd also base your decision on local dealerships.... it's no good having to travel large distances for service or warranty work. Same with the hull... whilst I rate Ospreys slightly better than Ribcraft, you might be better off with a locally built hull.

etecs get compared to 4 strokes as they are perhaps the only ones they can beat.....

optis get compared to etecs because they can beat em...

i know a lot of it is potentially propaganda but it is a shame etec dont go head to head with optis

http://www.mercurymarine.com/engines...eintegrity.php

opti 200 is 24% more fuel efficient than the etecs 200, 8% better on holeshot also

i did a lot of research on which engine to get and the figures in tests in the usa tests in various publications nearly always put the opti in front....except noise at lower speeds and weight

True, who knows what the Japanese might be working on at the moment behind closed doors or anyone for that matter? 2 stroke technology was written off by many just a few years back but look now the E-tec has changed things, the Japanese may reply with something to better it who knows?

No one knows for sure what the future holds for outboard Technology, only a few years back everybody was talking about 4 strokes and how 2 strokes were a thing of the past, not now though! in fact 2 strokes i believe are still better units than 4 strokes, much lighter, more power, more responsive, less complicated and in some cases more fuel efficient with less emissions, the 2 stroke is hopefully here to stay.
