sealing connections in fuel system

hi

i am paying around with new bits for a new build, i am just gathering together all the bits i will need and have come across a issue!!!!

the new buildhas a diesel stern drive and i am looking at all the hose tail connections on the tank and the CAV filter etc etc and was wondering what to seal these joints with?????

PTFE tape is not up to the job i doubt, so what to use?????

I think ptfe is actually ok for diesel. You might try blue hermatite? or any other sealer from a motor factor for fuel connetions.

Good old Heldite, been around for years! Just not nice when you have to get it off again.

I am currently using Sikaflex polyurethane paste, like 11FC, just put a very small amount on the threads and let dry for one day for safety - it seals perfectly, gasoline or diesel no problem

Just to point out that PTFE tape is a no, no.

The bits can break off and if after your filter can clog injectors and pumps etc. Sealing liquid is the only way forward.

BTW, if anyone wants some hydraulic sealing fluid to seal a system or to cure a leak, I have some Loctite at home, and I'd be happy to lend out the bottle.
