Searider 4 meter 40 hp power trim.

I'm new to this game. I have a searider 4 , well will have soon and I am buying an engine. Is it worth having power trim on a smaller rib. I read somewhere it would not be necessary. Power tilt is. I'm just wondering about extra cost for nothing. Your expertise welcome.

If you've got power trim, you'll have power tilt etc.

it's well worth having it.

Should I be able to get a reasonably decent lump for £1500 ? I am thinking get one from a dealer at least I can go in there and camp in the shop if its a total rip off. Private , cant really do this. I know theres no gaurantee with a dealer but at least you can threaten there reputation if they try and rip you off. I find "I'm not leaving until you sort me out and every customer walking in is going to hear my story" usually get you the attention you require.

I am having trouble finding anything. Any tips on sourcing an engine?

You should be able to source a really decent 50hp with PTT for £1500.

Up your way, try Kings Marine in Chertsey-very helpful guys.

Thanks , isnt 50 too big for a 4 meter ? I know they do but I have never had a rib before so I though I'd go for 40. I supose your gonna say run it at less revs and its more economical and less stress on the engine. Get the biggest you can afford. Am I right here. Put me straight.

The SR4 is rated to 50hp. I had a Yam 55 on mine without PTT and it went well but would have been even better if it had PTT.

I'll have to av it then, it would be more economical as well, dont you adjust it so the boats riding with the least poss amount of resistance for the sea your in. I cant bloody wait, my wifes pregant , i'm going on holiday and all I keep thinking about is tilt and trim , and hopefully getting some bass....... to feed the new born , thats the only reason I'm getting the boat. Honest. Nutrition, thats it.

If running with the weather ie waves are following you/breaking behind you trim out so the bow rides higher which helps to stop the bow from stuffing into the waves in front.
If running into the weather trim the engine in so it keeps the bow down, this helps to stop you from flying off the top off every wave.
