Selva 9.9 4stroke

Hi.. Would it be possible to increase the power of this engine without spending too much money ????

Hi..... Thanks for getting back to me. The only reason that I bought the Selva was because it was so much lighter than any other 4stroke engine of simular power. It is noisier than I would have expected but runs very sweetly and seems not to use hardly any fuel even after charging around for several hours. There is no vibration problem from the engine and it starts first pull. I am very pleased with it, but want a 3.8/4m inflatable this year and therefore poss.. more power !!

This engine is in a fairly high state of tune as it is, being a lightweight single cylinder unit. (unlike the twin cylinder 8-10hp engines that are often detuned 15hp ones)

I'm not sure you could get much more out of it. If you are going for 4m boat then you'd probably be better off selling it and buying a bigger engine.
Depends on how fast you want it to go! I'm sure a 4m boat will plane with a 10hp on it, certainly with one person on board and maybe two.
