And am I right in thinking that everything mechanical about this will work.

http://www.youngsboatyard.co.uk/prod...tilt-switch%29

Obviously the key start and trim won't work but is it possible to rig up the warning lights?

Sorry for asking so many questions.

Neutral lock:
I think we may be talking about 2 different things here. I call the neutral lock the thing that prevents you starting in gear. The lever you are referring to is what I call the "fast idle" control. And yes, it will work.

As for that control box, again if it's a honda "plug'n'play" then in theory it should, as the big electrical multicore will have some warning functions built in. The second wire, if you look closely, terminates in another plug afer about 6" of wiring. (but the photographer has decided to make the pic look tidy - it's hidden under the big coil) That is for your tacho. You may also find that although the electric start does nothing in the way of cranking your engine, you may need to have the key in and "on" for it to run - the "off" position of the key switch is usually wired to the same circuit as the deadman. On the plus side, it's another security thing against opportunists jumoping in & driving off.

The text says it's comapatible with a BF15D. If that's your engne it should work. As I said before, check with the dealer before you buy as I've never used one of these engines on remotes.

Yeh, we are talking about different things!

I am not talking about the mechanism to stop you starting in gear or the fist idle control.

On the underside of the lever there is a grey piece you lift when in neutral in order to move into gear either forward or astern.

I'm assuming this is just mechanical and will work.

Thanks.

Ooops. we're now talking about 3 things!

Yeah, that grey piece is basically there to stop you accidentally knocking it into gear. It's part of the remotes box mechanism and basically lifts a pin out a slot, It will work even if the box is lying on a table with no cables attatched.

Right got it now.

I would only need to put the key to the on position if I had rigged up the deadman's switch on the control box. The mechanics should work fine still even if the deadman's and key switch arent being used.

Yeah. That's a fair summary.

But for the "hassle" of putting the key in, I think I'd rather be attatched to the deadman......
