spark plugs

has anyone had a spark plug gap reduce from say 0.8mm to virtually closed ?
low hours on new plugs ran ok for a while pre our mull trip ran rough on tick over then stalled, coaxed it to build revs in gear then it would run for hours at 4500 rpm until tick over again.

Spark plug changes are an obsession when it comes to outboards, I tell customers for services I will clean and check the gap and replace if needed i.e. It's CRACKED or their is no electrode tip left, they all still want a new one lol, how often do you change your vehicle spark plugs!

For me lee at £4 each I have them changed my problem is I had an issue which I think was a Servis error but just wanting to know if this has happened on any engine at low hours I don't think it does but it will make me happier if it doesn't happen then I know it's just an error I can handle that with no problem, I have a big trip coming up so want it sorted in my mind. Thanks for your reply

Punters, wanting to spend good cash on service consumables!
Do you re-use impellors that look solid as well? I often look at gearbox fill washers and think: "Hey, I could go another season on that puppy no issues!"

I do look at them and think your good for another 5 years lol, in all my services I've only seen a handful that actually had worn away or broken blades, problem now is the Chinese impellers at £5-£10 customers don't wanna see £16.99 for a genuine impeller (small tender engine) they see £6 for it on eBay and think your now ripping them off. It's funny out of 100 customers 90 would rather have a £6 impeller against a genuine one and still pay for a new spark plug when their one is still gaped at 7mm when I pull it lol
