suzuki 100 hp v 4

Just wondering if anyone could help me out please ? Just bought a boat and had it running today, started great, drove like a dream, then when we were heading back an hour later we couldnt get full power out of it ? if anyone has any ideas would really appreciate them. Thanks

Did it sound rough at the point you could not get full power ? If so then start with plug leads (make sure they are all on) then check fuel is clean and water free. Then move on to the plugs themselves...etc If it did not sound rough and is responsive but just down on top end I would look at the throttle cables in the control box and under the engine cowel to make sure they have not gone out of adjustment or perhaps partially broken make sure that when the throttle stick is at WOT (wide open throttle) that the same is happening at the engine.

Check the spark plugs are dry. (Would have been easier at the time though)
If the water jacket is leaking it can take a while to effect the plug.

If the plugs are ok. Look for fuel filters and drop the float chambers off the carbs could be rubbish in the fuel.
