Suzuki 140 - gear case needed

Hi all!

Anyone know where I can get a replacement second hand gear case? The one on my engine has had the bottom half of the fin broken off ...

Thanks in advance!

Jonathan

You sure it can't be mended?

Hi Simon,

I wasn’t aware it could be repaired? Basically half of the fin below the prop has broken off (with the piece that came off nowhere to be seen...).. I guess it’s aluminium so perhaps someone who repairs props could repair it?

Thanks

Jonathan

If you have the broken bit is an easy fix for a good welder. If you don't have it you can buy new skegs on eBay or Amazon etc to retrofit, you can buy weld on ones or bolt on. Weld on ones are about 30 quid from memory but you may need to buy a mercruiser one or something assuming it is big enough and get the grinder out.

Example...https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-DF14...anner=1&_rdt=1

Make sure you order the right one!!

A good prop shop will weld a section back on, reshape and paint. It should not be too big of a deal

Steel Developments will repair that for around £100

Watch something like this to get an idea as to what a good prop shop will do.
