Suzuki DF140 Service

I have booked my Suzuki DF 140 in for its first 20h service.

I got two very different quotes for the service from my two local Suzuki Dealers.

The first was like this :-

The price for a Suzuki DF140 20 hour service will be around £120 - £130 + VAT. This will include a full inspection of the engine, engine oil and gear oil change, fuel filter change, inspection of propeller, nut and pin and inspection of tappet clearance.

And the second like This :-

The cost from us would be approximately 220.00p This however includes removing bolts as necessary greasing, re-torque etc.

How can i find out what is supposed to be done in a service from an authorised dealer - ie what is the recommended task list and also what is the minimum task list.

My Suzuki df250's first service (20 hours) was £130 ex VAT, I would expect yours to be no more than that. However I am in the channel islands and our labour rate may be slightly cheaper.

I thought that Caradon now had Bob under contract, Bob parks the Zodiac up under the relevant discharge and it saves it from going in the sea.

My first DF140 service was £98.......

The second one was £250
£120 of that was apparently labour according to the logsheet I have here.

As Hugh says, it's all in the owners handbook. I am about 4 to 5 months past 12months since the previous service and will be getting it serviced just before christmas as the 200hr service (yes, I have barely used the boat this year - weather and work issues ) which is likely to cost another £250 (great planning around christmas eh).

I am out of warranty now, but will continue to get the thing serviced (despite being stupid expensive) at the local authorised Suzuki dealer.

If you need any more info, let me know.

-Alex

USA cheaper????

just picked up my DF 90 from its 100hr service yesterday.
Main Suzuki dealer in San Diego charged me $85.00 labor and $51.00 parts
($33.00 engine oil/filter and $18.00 gear oil ) Checked engine /controls and greased for a total of just under $140.00
Thought that was pretty reasonable
cheers Dal

OK had the service done came in at 146.57 all in.

Got the print out from the engine management system.

Do any mechanics out there know what this stuff means - i have broken down the file into a header and a footer and a repeating caution section which i assume was the condition of the engine when the (in my case) the low battery warnings were recorded (i think these were me turning off the power at the isolator switch)

But the bit I would like to know is what are the normal / min / max values for the stuff in the "SERVICE DATA" section (in bold below)

Maybe I need to check the small print for the £100 "Cow Shit" surcharge.
