Suzuki DF140A Service cost S.Devon

It's time to get the annual service (70 hours total) so 50 hours of running since last (first) service on my DF140 (2016). The 20 hour service I did not have to pay for, so no benchmark.

What sort of cost is this service now - assuming all is fine and only the normal stuff - oils, seals, filters, etc... need replacing for peace of of mind, and how long should it take?

My non-mechanical mind estimates 2-3 hours work and cost of in the region of £300? It be good to know before I 'phone the local agents for their price.

I know many will do this sort of service themselves, but I don't want to compromise engine warranty, and more importantly have neither the skills, tools or desire to do it myself.

Cheers,

LT

Thanks PD, may be a bit more than I originally thought - but a realistic view helps to sense check quotes from anyone who might be trying to take the proverbial!

Alex, thanks for the steer, although not that far as the crow flies, by road, Salcombe's a fair tow.

Give Sea Swift a call over at Ruby farm .............

My mate has a pair of DF140's on his offshore ......... I will ask him tomorrow who does the service and how much ........... he owns a garage (and also Blue Water Trailers) so any service work he has done would need to be top notch ......watch this space ...............

IRRC, the service kit was £160, the rest labour & oils. It's a farce imo, the impeller/plugs etc were like new (I've kept them[emoji106]) it's just a money making exercise whilst they've got you for the warranty.

Have had the engine serviced - was very surprised that they had changed the water pump - only 70 hours of use and no problems with it. On questioning this was told this is a standard part of the service. I don't recall the water pump on my DF100 being changed annually as part of the "standard" annual service. Is this normal for a recent DF140?

I've just had mine done (again[emoji849]) & yes, the pump is a standard service part. The service kit is a standard Suzuki part & contains, impeller, impeller plate, plugs, fuel filter etc. Everything for the service apart from the oils is included in the box. Iirc, the kit retails at about £160 but you can get it cheaper online. Labour was around £250 ish. I kept the old parts from my service, the plugs were spotless & the impeller was like new. When the engine is out of warranty, they'll be going back in[emoji6]

Thanks PD,

Cost may be more reasonable than I first thought then if pump is changed as standard.

Parts kit & oils nearly £200, but labour nearly £300 (bur did include a bit of travel to the yard. Still £500+ was more than I was expecting.

Will just have get out more to dilute the cost!

Cheers,

LT
