Suzuki Kill cord 'Caps'
Hi All,
I have an oldish Suzuki engine with the kill cap style kill cord switch. I am having great trouble finding a spare cap. Its a Number 106 and I tink its a magnet type. Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Got a photo? The type I thought you had fitted has a small pin in the centre which activates the switch.

No, its a cap type. I dont have a photo but its ths same as in this link - BUT - its a 106 type not the ones these guys sell. Hence the problem. My local dealer says cahnge the killswitch, but I am not keen, firstly because I was advised not to take the control box apart for fear of it all pinging apart, and second because they want £50 for one!

Those are actually ignition switch keys, used in Soozook control boxes from the late '80s/early '90s era (so my Grandfather tells me ) The kill cord caps from the same control boxes are very similar but red in colour. All the ignition switch keys shown can be used in place of the kill cord cap, but not vice versa.

Aaaah! I see. It's for these moments that I think RIBnet needs an "embarrassed" smilie
I'm sticking with searching for the "right" character though

The 106 Ignition Key Cap is P/No:37141-94450 Price £18.92+vat No stock in UK but in Germany. Will take approx 3 working days to get.
The red stop switch cap is P/No:37823-94400 Price £9.45+vat. In stock in UK.
If you have a local dealer he will be able to supply from this info. Or PM me and we can get them for you, with the usual 10% Ribnet discount.
Regards,
Aquatec.

Not sure it is sorted really. I am confused. I have taken the control box apart and the kill cap thing has got a centre button that pushes a switch. Not sure if is a 'make' or 'break' killswitch in these boxes.
I think I will just change the switch for something more generic and more positive.
I will ring aquasafe tomorrow as well though as they may have the replacement switch.
Cheers
Edward

It's a 'make to kill' , which effectively shorts out the ignition circuit to ground.
You won't find a 'generic' kill switch - they're all slightly different, with some engine 'manufacturers' even using different types for motors built in the same year.
I remember a local instructor having a kill cord fitted to his lifejacket and this had around 6 or 7 different ends fitted, so he could use it on all the different motors run by his school.

Hi Guys, especially Aquatec, I have ordered the kill caps today from IMS as I had already emailed them before your advice. I will certainly come back to you for any other parts. Are you able to find a manual for this engine at all? I undersatnd they are very useful....?
