Throttle cam and tiler travel seems short - is there a blockage?

Hello
My mercury 7.5 1980 throttle cam doesn't seem to travel very much and and appears to halt at a nut on the powerhead.
the tiles grip only goes from idle to shift too and not on to fast.
I am waiting for parts before firing it up and checking for WOT but does any know if this amount of range in the video attached is correct?? ( I don't have a service manual).

Just planning ahead
Thanks.

Does anything change if it's in forward/reverse instead of neutral? My smaller/older Johnson/Evinrude outboards on our little aluminium harbour runabout have mechanical lever type arrangements to prevent too much throttle being applied in neutral, but when you shift into gear, you get full range of throttle movement.

Ah yes paulbrown you are very correct there. As it’s a non runner at the mo I didn’t think to engage it into gear Doooh! There is loads of travel there now. Thanks for the punch.

Great news, glad there's no underlying problem with that part at least!
