Throttle connector

I have a Mariner 40hp 6e9.

The plastic end connector has snapped off inside the outboard. Could anyone advise where I can get a replacement and how it's actually held on to the metal rod? I expected a thread but it looks like it just pushes on.

Also, would this make the outboard difficult or impossible to start? I have the throttle arm and a control box fitted and due to it snapping, only the throttle arm will move move the throttle cables inside. Does this need to be connected to enable the throttle.

This plastic connector appears to couple the arm throttle and morse throttle together.

Any help would be very much appreciated

The black plastic part was originally molded onto the metal rod so if replacing you will be looking for the threaded rod with plastic connector as one part.
I cant help with part number or supplier, sorry.

Go on the internet and buy a book called "Cant get parts for my outboard" on page 12 you will find what to do when you cannot but this part with the fixed end. What you do is buy 2 of the black screw on ends, a 5mm nut and a long 5mm bolt. Cut the head off the bolt so you have a threaded rod and cut to the length you need, use the 5mm nut to lock one end! Sorted!

Funny you posted this as I've been literally looking at how to make one!

The ends appear to be quite easy to buy.

Thanks for advice
