Tilt & Trim Motor

Hi. This is my first post, I am hoping to get some info on my tilt/trim motor, It's from a 70hp. 3cylinder Mercury It is the Square type motor and it needs a new brush plate. Does any one on here know where I can get one from?

Would need the engine serial number to give you a firm price, but just picking a 70hp 3 cylinder from the parts finder, and pricing the part # 13506 for a "brush card kit" gives a price of £1,028. 24 plus vat, although we would be able to offer some discount on that!

I suspect that the part isn't available seperately, and that price is for a complete power trim kit. You may be luckier once we have a serial number.

Hi Marinautic,
First many thanks for your reply. The serial No I have is, 9556879 I believe it came from a 70hp 3 cylinder from about 1993. I am hoping to use it on my 4 cylinder 50hp brown band from about 1985. Although the transom bracket is different, I am hoping to alter it to accommodate the mid section. I dont seem to be able to get hold of the right bracket. But the motor on the tt unit could do with a new brush plate. It been stood for a few years with the top cover off and the little plate with the contacts that make it go in reverse have corroded. I have cleaned it up and got it working again but don't know for how long... many thanks,,, Colin.

Hi Mercury,
Regarding your trim motor. Mercury stopped making spares for that motor years ago, which is why the price quoted for the brush card is so high. It supercedes to a completly new powertrim assembly. A company in the States makes a replacement motor complete with the pump cartridge ready to drop into the manifold. I keep one in stock as we replace at least a couple each year. The cost is £595.00+vat. Comtact me if you want more info.
