Tohatsu 2.5hp corrosion

The outboard is used in salt water and is about a year old.

In replacing (see separate thread) the fuel cock on my outboard the (ferrous metal - not Stainless Steel) bolt that secured the cock to the fuel tank was severely corroded, especially the head of the bolt.
I could barely use the screwdriver in the slot (or what was left of it.

Also noticed that there was evidence of corrosion at various spots on the engine.

It is difficult to wipe off these bits under the cover after each use.

Do you stick a hose under the cover?

What do you use to minimise corrosion, white lithium grease/other?
