My (very old) SR5.4 had a plate that stated max horsepower to be 115hp.
They must have been those 1970s horsepowers!

Can't remember the year but I will have a look tonight. Yep its 4 cylinder, a lot quieter than the mercury 90 I had before. Starts well and ticks over I'm really pleased with it. They come with a guage for revs, overheating, oil warning re low etc and trim control, all you need really.
Easy to work on I'm really happy with it. Can be thirsty at WOT but fine when cruising at around 4000 rpm
I don't waterski, but its pushing a 7m aluminium rib and will make 33mph 2 up with 240 litres of fuel on board. Best speed so far was about 35mph with half the fuel, so no big difference

I've always fancied fitting a V4 Soozook DT90 onto an SR5.4. They weigh around 150kg, so should be just inside the max weight limit. Difficult finding a good used one now though.

As far as weight is concerned the SR5.4 could take a Tohatsu 120 @ 163kg...... May be buy some 90 stickers and a suitable prop to keep it sensible!
Or have the Tramadol tablets finally kicked in.....?
If I can get someone to drive my car I'm supposed to be veiwing e-Tecs and Tohatsu tomorrow.
Also the man at Barclays was offering me some cheap money when I drew out the cash today... so we might have to go and look at some brand new ones as well!

Avon have stated elsewhere max engine weight not to exceed 175kg
And Yamaha v4 115hp have often been fitted to SR5.4's
I have a plate somewhere that states 120hp max, will find it on my home pc and post it sometime. Think it mentioned that the hull had been laminated by Galt on behalf of Avon....
But it could be the tablets getting the better of me.

I reckon about 1 litre a mile at 4000rpm, on my rib that's approx 25mph, get to WOT at around 30mph and its a big shift too as much as 2 litre a mile. Mind you my bikes like that too, under 80 mph ans its 50 mpg, over 80 and it drops off like no ones business
