Tohatsu M12A - 1974-1980

Hi all
I have recently aquired an old Tohatsu 12 hp motor for my Avon 3.4 Roll away.
It needed a new recoil assy (sourced from North Wales Outboards - he must have hundreds of old engines for breaking)
Very strong spark - 100psi in each cylinder - no corrosion. All complete it seems. (awaiting fuel tank to try it out)
I am finding it very difficult to get any maintenance / technical information for it.
Tohatsu say it is too old and no longer support it. - Shame because it seems bloody well built, and has a few years left in her I`m sure.
Does anyone on the forum have any service literature available that they could let me see.

i cannot help you with any info but your right about the older tohatsus built well .we bought a second hand hard fishing boat about 15 years ago for crab potting and that had one think it may have been an 8 or 9 hp ,at first we were a bit doubtfull about it for regular eveyday use as we had never heard of tohatsu before but it ran like a dream and always started first time and it was an old then ,think we kept it about 2 years but apart from an impeller that was about it . i dont think the newer ones are built as good as that one was .
