Tohatsu M90A "Hot Wiring"

Ok maybe the title is a little misleading! However, ive taken on a project boat which came with a 1995 Tohatsu 90hp, the engine was "running before it was taken off the boat" as they always are! however the engine was basically free and turns over by hand so theres every chance its ok with a bit of fiddling.

I have the top mount control box but missing the harness between the control box/starter & killcord switch) and the motor (connector as per pic)

A new harness is £150 and I am reluctant to spend anything until I can check I have compression and/or get it running.

Does anyone know whether this motor will run if I hook up some fuel (premixed to be safe) and a battery, without connecting up to this connector? I am guessing not as it will have the loop for the kill cord failsafe and hoping someone can tell me which wires to bridge so I it will start!
