Hello, I'm using a Yamaha 13x19 on my TLDI, top speed is 39 knots @ 5750 rpm whereas the Standard Tohatsu 13.75x17 kept me under 5250 rpm. Yes, I know, it's weird to get more rpm with more pitch but Tohatsu may have its own way to calculate props.
Since my boat is 5.8mtrs long, you can probably expect more speed than your 38 knots with a Yamaha prop, better yield.

One detail: This is an aluminium model K Yamaha propeller I'm talking about, not SS, too many underwater hazards in my area.

I just used the Tohatsu's thrust washer fore and four 2mm washers aft, The Yamaha guy didn't have any spacers in stock - the only difference is length -.

tohatsu update

well,im thrilled with the cmc jackplate i installed on my 15vsc ab inflatable.im running the 90 hp tohatsu tldi. she turns a 13.25x19 aluminum 5500rpm. and boy am i cookin!!!! the jackplate allows the engine to run higher in the water and achieve the desired rpm. i bet im in the 50 mph range. thats movin for a 15 ft boat.
looking for the next level?INSTALL A JACKPLATE!!!!!!!!!

tohatsu/jackplate

i think its a total of 8" set back with 5.5" of travel. we mounted her high on the transome.she is electric/hydraulic with toggle switch installed on dash.
you can really dial her in with the combined jackplate/trim tilt controls.
i will post photos soon as i get a few.
i have no problems with the tohatsu picking up water with the nose cone about 3/4 above the bottem of hull.
it truley is amazing how it improved my performance.

update

i now have the new cmc high speed hydrualic jackplate as the one i had before crapped out...it was an ebay purchase and was very old.
i mounted the jackplate as high as it could go as well as the engine on the jackplate.
i can now spin the laser 2 13.25x20 5800 rpm...the boat is so fast it is scary...
prior to any jackplate the engine would only spin the aluminum 20 pitch 4000 rpm
plus it really improves my range at half throttle as the performance there is unbelievable.
pretty funny the looks i get when i smoke other boats with twin 200s
go jackplate!!
