Tohatsu prop needed
I contacted Tohatsu and they said that on a 2.8m SIB the 9.8 2-stroke should be fitted with the largest pitch prop that is available.
It came with an 8.5 and they do a 10.
I'm guessing this may improve the performance, or maybe the top speed of the boat. Unfortunately the prop is £200...
Is there a cheaper make than the OE which looks a bit roughly made anyway? Or is this cheap for a propeller? I've never bought one before.

Have a chat with these guys, I have had Volvo props altered in pitch and diameter by them in the past.

Try boats.net or iboats.com
Even in the UK, Yam props for an 8hp are <GBP100.

Lightning, if you want to recoup some of your outlay on the 11", I'd buy that old prop from you.

I would sell the old prop but need to buy the new one and compare it first, to see if there is an improvement.

Can you tell me if this might be a worthwhile swap on my boat/engine?
Or is it a case of try it and see? (Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke on Zodiac 2.85m solid floor SIB)

Their price is the same.
Seems like I will just have to get out the credit card and stump up for one.

We can offer a 5% discount in a Tohatsu parts over £100, and we might be able to do something on p&p if we can send it Royal mail.

Tohatsu said it would when I emailed them.
Also 10" is listed as an option for "small boats" in the handbook for the engine (but without part number)
10 was the pitch of the prop, they said 10" pitch, not sure how pitch works but apparently it's a bigger pitch than the 8.5 that I have on at the moment.

I have the same outboard (standard prop) to use on my 3.8 honwave when I'm on my own.
Be interested to hear how you get on with your upgrade

Will that fit the Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke engine?

In the USA though
I'll see if they ship to the UK and how much it costs....when I was buying Ferrari spares (for my old Mondial) from the USA it often cost $100 to ship a fairly small/light package. The cheaper option is a "flat rate box" but it's untracked and too small for a propeller.
