Top speed DF140 / RC585
Picked up my new (to me) Ribcraft 585 yesterday, and went for a spin
I absolutely loved the boat, especially the way it handles. Just one question I am hoping a Ribnetter can help me with.
It has a Suzy DF140, which has just been serviced, and seems to run very well. However when I went to WOT, it seemed to top out at around 33 knots / 5500 RPM. Admittedly it was a little choppy (when isn't it in the Solent?), and I may not have not got the trim right, but I was a little disappointed.
The prop is a new-looking ali 3x14x21. From the engine manual it looks like I should be getting another 500 to 1000 rpm at the top end.
So my questions are what props to others use with the RC585 / Suzi 140 combo, and what sort of top speed do they get?

It's a secret
A standard Ali prop was 40
I then used a Suzi SS 21" prop which gave 42 ish
But AJ. has a 4 blade Ali which is awesome, it really grips on the turns and produces 40 too
There is a race somewhere on video, I'll dig it out....

This is a test report with the 140 and is the same set up as I have. I have found it pretty accurate.
http://www.suzuki-marine.co.uk/docs/...0-%20DF140.pdf
The fastest I have had is 42 knots with the tide. It is perhaps a tad slower than the new Ribquest 650 super sport with a 175hp.

We have the same boat/engine combination. Standard 3x 14 x 21 Ali prop gives around 40 kts.

Thanks for all of this. Sounds like it may be correctly propped for around 40 knots, so I guess it may be trim, or an engine issue.
