I rarely post in RIB threads but loads of past experience of old boats/cars/houses... things that may or may not have bodges under a covering. I would just have to get that transom plate off and see what was under there as a starting point to assess previous profile and current condition.

As others have said if you do reduce its height alter the way you handle the boat if water over the transom when slowing is a worry.

Try a stainless semi cleaver prop, they're designed to ventilate unlike regular bunny ear props. Can't guarentee it will fix the issue but it will help. Yamaha make good ones, K series and G series stainless

No, not cleaver. They have a very flat blade shape with no cup, will be completely the wrong prop design for this hull.

A laser 2 might be OK though. Do they make them in a small enough size for a 50? I dunno.

Pointless encouraging the guy to waste money on props 4" too high on a plodder is never going to work properly regardless what prop he fires on there.
The engines far to high end of story
