Trim & Tilt Solenoid

Woke up the boat from its hibernation today and found that the solenoid which runs power trim down is not working, Up works fine and can bring down by shorting over the terminals on the faulty one. It clicks loudly when switched on the throttle switch and on the engine itself.

Everything else OK though and ran well.

Any ideas on possible cause and solution? Does anyone have a replacement they may wish to part with if this is what I need?

The engine is an early nineties 3 cylinder Yamaha 60 2 stroke.

Cheers

Paul

had similar problem on my mariner. i very carefully took the solenoid apart by bending back the tabs on its metal base, then i removed the copper plunger and pushed out the copper terminals which were all blackened inside. quick clean up with the dremel, put back together and all worked fine! oh and didnt cost me a penny - bonus!
