Well, after a good run out in variable conditions I can report:-
Boat now handles like it should, bow down, neutral/flat running attitude.
Lands flat or slightly stern first after taking "air"
No cavitation on heavy landings
Generally feels "planted"
I'm much pleased.
Economy 1-1.2Nm/l
WOT 6000rpm
Top speed around 37kn
That's with 2 up, 170l fuel, light load.
I've raised the engine as high as it will go on the transom without redrilling & have fitted a Solas HR4 4 blade prop. I think I've got it as best as I can.
It'll do👍

Yeah, still got the bag of sand, it's set itself in the anchor locker, I think it likes it in there.

PD will you build up the transom to the underside of the saddle (stern bracket)? As I believe that the lack of such build up was a factor in the breaking of my stern bracket.

Nope, it's a Suzuki & as everyone is aware, they never fail or break, so no need. I will however check with the dealer when it goes in for its ECU changing under the recent recall🙄
When you think about it, if the transom had to be built up to compensate for the engine being raised, there would be absolutely no point in making the bracket adjustable, as by definition you would be saying that it can only sit in one place, I.e. On top of the transom.

Nice one Dave! Sounds like you've sorted it ..
There's always some tweaking to do with new setups and layouts, especially on smaller RIBs.
It's a Great Hull as you know Enjoy!

Word to the wise (unnecessary I'm sure): when mine came back from having the ECU replaced the trim sender was dead and the engine hours were wrong. I'm hoping to get these things resolved when I eventually manage to get it booked back in. Might be worth seeking assurances ahead of the work being done?

From a support point of view you want as much area as possible to support weight and force, if the engine is only supported by 4 bolts which are in shear the surface area is minimal and for the sake of I nice piece on HDPE or similar would be my preference OMO.
When I down sized to the SIB it came with two transom packers to be screwed down a permanent soloution when lifting the engine?
If you get chance whilst the boat is still on the trailer rev her up in gear and watch if the engine flexes a vernier between the two faces would prove movement transom top to clamp saddle.
Just my two pence airing caution.
Good result on performance Dave.
Cheers

Had her out again today, I can trim up much further than I could with the old setup, I got the fuel consumption up to 1.3nm/L at 25kn & she was still running flat. I can't say whether the improvement is down to the prop or raising the engine, I suspect it's more down to the prop. I had great results on the last boat with the Mercury Rev4s, I've never seen an increase in economy though with a 4 blader, so that's probably due to raising the engine.
Thanks for the advice Jeff, when I finalise the engine position I'll look at knocking a packer up, if only to tidy things up & make it look finished.
