ultrasound carb cleaners

Has anyone bought a cheaper sub £100 ultrasound cleaner for their carbs and found it to be up to standard ? I tinker with bikes a bit as well, so for a few extra pounds over the cost of paying to get my yam 40 carbs cleaned I could just buy one .....

But, only if they are any good. Any recommendations please

I use a sub $50 one I bought from Amazon.com.

It has worked fine with every carburetor I've put in it. I use a mix of vinegar and alcohol.

To answer your question, I don't know how much better an expensive cleaner is over a cheaper one, because I've never useD an expensive one.

I also couldn't say YES that an ultrasonic cleaner is worth buying, I've spent years cleaning carbs on various engines and never needed one.

I do however have one of the <£100 units that I bought for one job in particular, it was a Honda carb that wouldn't idle because of a blocked airway, I'd tried the usual methods but it wasn't happening. I had been advised to try an ultrasonic cleaner with a drop of TFR or washing up liquid in it. It worked after just one 40min cycle in the cleaner.

The carbs do come out like brand new. I usually use a bit of degreaser and a brass brush on the outside just to loosen up grease and gunk before dropping them in the cleaner.

Would I be without it? I dunno.

I bought a £120 version and was rubbish.it cleaned it but after a long time, i think the cheaper ones are great for doing jewely etc but not carbs.. i then bought a £400 version and the difference was immediately obvious. cleaned it in 20 mins instead of 2 hours and much better finish.
gotta use the right cleaning fluid tho!!

No link I'm afraid, it's just an unbranded 3L cleaner from eBay. There are several on eBay that look similar in shape and size but not the exact same.

Iirc it was about £80.

Sorry I can't be more help than that.

ultrasonic cleaner

I bought a 2.5 ltr ultrasonic cleaner from "Maplin" a couple of years ago it cost me £80.00 and It did a lovely job on my troublesome 21 year old outboard Honda 50 carburettors.
I wouldn't be without it ( I have more than one outboard). It's handy for the better half's jewellery too. "Maplin" still sell it but it's a little dearer now.

Hi

We use them all the time and have found the only differences to be:

1: size. ie what we can fit in
2: time ..... note we just do other jobs or leave them on overnight on a program setting so for us not a problem
