Uses for old engine oil?
Any cunning ideas on how this stuff can be made useful?

centrifuge or fine filter it, and pour it in your diesel tank!
with the price of veg oil making the saving of running veg oil not worth the effort, many are turning to waste engine oil. either pre heating or diluting with diesel.
I have been using several pints of waste oil per tank of diesel for the last few months, due to engine wear though
I suspect before long we will be smelling exhaust fumes that smell like a clapped out ford zodiac rather than a chipshop.

If its petrol, I use it for chain saw chain oil , and for lubricating hedge trimmer blades or scythe blades and the like. If its diesel engine oil, it makes excellent wooden fence preservative .. it soaks right into the wood and doesnt stay 'wet' , sort of light creosote

I cant remember to be honest, its a friends saw i occasionally use, an old not very good mucculoch. it certainly has a manual button but it seems to run out anyway! its OK with thick chain oil, but with engine oil it flys everywhere

As an FYI, used engine oil contains ash and soot and crap that is considered carcinogenic.
Probably better to take it to a recycler and let them deal with it.

Manual it is then ,.. I know its thinner oil, but do you maybe pump it too much just to be on the safe side for the chain Doggy?

That's odd, mine seems to have that facility built in!
The new chain oils are bio-friendy (perhaps the trees feel no pain?) and Husky are death on old sump oil. But then they're not selling it so...?

i use cooking oil for my chainsaw. It is far cheaper than proper chain oil and better for the environment. Be careful . It will gum up if not used regularly - a few squirts of WD40 will free it up again though!!!
I use waste oil in the Landie - must be filtered well. Waste oil burners are great - a mate of mine uses one all the time - he has 70 lorries to feed it though!!!
