If you are looking for a 10-15hp outboard then currently the competition for decent ones is fierce. Best to wait until Oct onwards when those giving up or upgrading might be pleased to shift something they might just have laying in the garage over the winter months.
Also look on Ebay every single week. Now and again a £1200 outboard will go for £700 just due to location and no buyers that particular week... doesn't happen often but now and again someone gets lucky.
BTW to make it easier to search I'd consider only one outboard, the famed 9.8hp Tohatsu 2-stroke. Physically hardly any heavier or larger than many 4hp models but a good turn of speed on your size of inflatable. As you perhaps know a 10hp in many other makes is the same size/weight as their 15hp and just a waste of effort to move about.
Actually Fenlander i know very little other than what i have been advised on this forum. This advise was to go for a 10HP 2 stroke. I managed to work out that i need a short shaft myself.
