Dude, a guy tried it on with me after I put a wanted add on the Internet, he said he had exactly what I was looking for etc but we were about 200 miles away from each other, I arranged to collect it but then he came up with some very good shipping cost through his dads engineering firm, it would be delivered in a crate and then 2 days later the empty crate would be collected.

He said he wasn't keen on collection as he was robbed once and two guys made off with an outboard!

I pushed for collection and in the end he said that I could pay 50% now and the other 50% if I was completely happy on delivery. I had his number and we spoke on several occasions, he even sent me photos, so in the end I google the make and model and sure enough the pictures came up within two pages on google images.

He was very convincing, well spoken , said he was moving house and all that, but it was a scam.

You are not covered by PayPal for things that are collected etc so be very careful I never part with any money until I've seen and inspected the goods. If things are to good to be true, they normally are.

Stay safe buddy!

Sounds too genuine to be true more like.

Keep it going then to see what excuses he comes up with, I can't see how he can get out of it if you don't pay until you collect, also if he's from the RYA in Manchester why not give them a call to verify the matey, if they haven't confront him and see what he says

Henry, allow me to assist you.....

I'm an RYA commercially-endorsed skipper and Instructor and have many friends amongst the sailing schools oooop north but, handily for you, I only live about 20 miles from Manchester and am going that way in the morning. Give me his address and I'll check it out for you tomorrow.

The least I can do is check whether the engine actually exists.....

Lets hope so...might fund my engine.

I don't know if you know but I was the young guy who phoned up about the searider and wanted to just buy the boat, did the buyer not show because it is re-listed?

quite gutted because I have bought one now, Matt H's only rescue style one.
