Mariner 40 2 stroke

40 3 cylinder = 93kg
40 2 cylinder = 75kg

This is straight out of the latest mariner catologue so should be correct, hope this helps

Just out of interest though and as i love statistical figure the 40 4 stroke is as follows:

40 4 Stroke EFI = 98kg
40 4 Stroke = 93kg
40 4 Stroke Big foot = 120kg

So the non efi 4 stroke is interestingly the same weight as the 3 cylinder 2 stroke !!

And even more interestingly than this is the following:

the 3 cylinder 40 hp 2 stroke produces 29.4KW of energy which is exacly the same as the 40 4 stroke EFI and the none EFI model, the only difference is the gear ratio of 1.83:1 for the 2 stroke 3 cylinder against both the 4 strokes 2.00:1 for the EFI and the non EFi model, however the bigfoot has an increade gear ratio of 2.33:1 !!!

I was thinking more like an old 40 2 stroke circ.1985/90. I guess thats 75kg's.

Thanks guys,

Buy the way! what application would you use a "Bigfoot" Outboard for, commercial or where high loads/weights are to be encountered?

Bigfoot is the same as high thrust in Yamaha world, the difference is in the gear ratio meaning the high thrust will produce more bottom end torque at low revs and maintain power through the entire range , they are suggested for use when your towing skiiers or wake boarders, the initial grunt pulling a skiier out of the hole is said to be easier with the more efficent gearing ratio, though for small boat cruising i've been told you will lose speed slightly at the top end of the range. For me the extra cost outweighs the benefits !

Oh and one other point why we are slagging down Kentish folk mr D, i'll have you know that the quality of second hand goods in our part of the country is far superior to the quality of any second hand goods found anywhere in Essex, your'll find brand names including, next, Gucci and Quicksilver to name just a few in our charity shops, which i might add is a reflection on the level of wealth locally, last week i pointed out to Mrs Rat a local tramp wearing an authentic brushed camel hair crombie, the gentleman in question was sipping from a £30 bottle of single malt wisky whilst being gently moved on by the police, even our local tramps have better dress sense and taste than you Essesx lot, Burburry and La Cos have been banned from the county.

The A2 actually ends at Dover !! which is about 30 miles away

Yeah, it's a bit like the people in Anglesey always asking if I've had a good journey up from London, when in fact I live 40 miles from it. Then again they think my girlfriend comes from Liverpool although she was born in Wallasey on the Wirral!
