What to Buy

Looking at buying a 5.1 Adventurer RIB secondhand and have identified 3 options.

Option 1 2007 with 60hp 2 stroke Mariner
Option 2 2009 with 60hp 4 stroke Mariner
Option 3 2007 with new 2 stroke 70hp Yamaha

Option 2 is 1000 Euro more than Option 1 and Option 3 is 2000 Euro more than Option 1
Which is the best Buy, Thanks

Welcome ... youll find loads of helpfull people and info on here( some even about boats ! ) - we dont all agree all the time but thats what makes it good

I'd by no2 ..

Why ?

I like the newer small 4 strokes and no faffing with oil anywhere in the system ( tank etc ) & 60hp should be 'enough' to get you to 30knts.

The boats not really designed for heavy seas where you may need the extra bit of power - its really for nice days leisure only .. which if thats what your going to use it for with the 60 should be quite economical & quiet etc ...

As soon as you get it you'll want a bigger/faster more powerful one anyway - its one of the rules of boating....

There are +'s for the 2strokes ( lighter & quicker power delivery etc )

Go for option 3! The Yamaha 70HP Stroker is a fantastic engine! I've owned one and it NEVER let me down! Cheap and easy to service too! The only thing you need to watch out for is the trim seal as they perish and is a pain to change! It's not too bad on fuel either (if you get the autolube version)
