Right - the gearbox is all back together now - and I didn't even have any spare parts left over!
I bought the full gearcase and water impeller seal kit when I ordered the clutch dog as it wasn't much more than buying just the prop shaft seals and O-ring - so hopefully I won't have to do it again for a while.
Thanks Burtox for the PM tip on how to pressure test the gearcase - I bought an 8mm metric Fine bolt (as it was the same thread as the oil filler bolt) and drilled a hole through it's length so I could attach it to a foot-pump - and it all held 15 PSI overnight without dropping so hopefully all the oil seals and gaskets are fitted in the right places.
The gears hold now both in forwards and reverse with out seeming to jump or slip, so it's looking good so far.
Now all I have to do is re-connect the control cables and see if anyone else is out next Saturday around Southampton to tow me back if it all goes Pete-tong on the water!.
Any takers?
