Where to have a LH prop doctored?

I have two ss props one is my emergency 21" Raptor LH and the other is the one I use all the time a 19" sst LH.

I've been looking unsucsessfully to purchase a low cost used 17" LH prop since I've been using my RIB. My 21 is reving too low and I lose top end and acceleration. I was thinking that I'd like to get this prop altered to either a 17" or 18" pitch.

Other than Steel Developments are there any other Prop specialists that undertake this type of work?

And has anyone else had a prop altered in this manner?

Castle Marine can do it.

Not sure you'll be able to lose 4" in pitch though.

I have tried two companies.

Steel developments
Propeller Solutions - www.propellersolutions.co.uk

I found steel developments to be rude and the lady I dealt with was a miserable cow. I asked them to tweek the prop pitch by half an inch and although they said they did it turned out when I had the prop checked a few months later that they had not. I will never deal with them again.

Propeller Solutions on the other hand were courteous and professional, they turned the job round in a few days as promised and the prop came back looking better finished as well.

I also know of a couple of others that use Prop Solutions and have had the same qulity of service.

I think the maximum they usually do is as about 1"

The 21" turns at WOT 4600 rpm which is below the recommended 4750 lower limit but pushes the RIB at around 37 knotts, so a 20" pitch might be livable with but 19 would be better as I get 4900 rpm and the same speed. I'd like to try a 17 and see what happens.

What I really want to do is find someone with a 17 or 19" LH der who wants to swap for a bigger prop.....Pretty unlikely!

He drove down from Teesside to Poole to get em done.
As soon as the lad saw them he said that someone had bodged them, sure enough they had despite been bought "new" from keyparts!

The lad was really helpful and I think it was £40 each for an alloy prop.

Are you thinking of Propeller Revolutions? They were based at Cobbs Quay, Poole.

I think that propeller revolutions were the really helpful guys in Cobbs Quay.
Had a stainless propeller balanced by them and very pleased.

They got bought out by Clements group, and it would appear that the Cobbs Quay workshop is no longer open?

The helpful guys then left and set up as propeller solutions.
Not needed to use them yet.

I think Mike Wills has moved into their old workshop. I've seen some signs around the yard about someone offering propeller services, but didn't pay much attention.

Had bit of a speed wobble they, its Steel Developments that are useless gits and Propellor Solutions that were excellent.

I've asked the mods to change the previous post.

Yep, they seem to be the only people who can recommend what size prop you roughly need without the aid of a computer calculation.

Excellent service... cheap too!
