Honda every time out of the two but maybe not for that size boat...but I'd be surprised if it is pull start anyway

And if you let me know the serial number of the Mariner I can tell you it's age.

The Yamaha every time. You don't know what you're getting into with the other motor.

Well, unless it's of an age when the Mariner is a resprayed yam........

When B&O comes back with the age the discussion may become clearer! There is the view that a known runner is a better bet.

Many Mariners of an uncertain age turn out to be mid 80s. I've run these engines with great reliability in the recent past but would far far prefer something under 10yrs old.

Pm me the serial details and I'll tell you the age of both motors. It's likely that they are both Yamaha built anyway (depends on age) but I'd still prefer the Yam Yam to the Mariner Yam if that makes sense :-)

makes perfect sense to me
and along the lines i was thinking
if yam is good enough to be used by mariner its going to be good as a product in its own right?
any way thanks for your comments one and all
