Got two more candidates for you.
1. Surely the racing version of the Mercury 300??
2. Then there is the Rolls Royce Allsion C18 gas turbine, producing 317hp at 6,000rpm, as used by John Aldiss on his wave piercing rib.

Ollyit,
Gotta be the Yam Vmax 300 HPDI surely. Saw one while out last Sunday - sounded awsome!!
There is of course the Merc Promax?? But they only go up to 300 I think.

Does make, or has made?
Stock or modified?
Race or Consumer?
Certainly the merc promax 300x is rated @ 300hp stock.
I think the old OMC F1 V8 was around the 400hp mark.
There is at least one supercharged OMC V8 (non F1) that has had the reed block replaced with a supercharger.

I think simon motorsports in the US are also doing some fairly straightforward mods to the 300x which take it up to around the 330hp mark (propshaft hp).
The allison is 317 on the pto, so is would be a bit lower at the propshaft.
And there's also the Merc 2.5 EFI Drag rated @ 300hp to.

Rogue wave over some spark plugs I believe - just don't understand why when people have differences of opinion they have to get so personal.
Other people have ridiculed my knowledge of engines and made the remarks that just because I understand car engines I know nothing about boat engines - despite so many of them being car based!
Basically I always do my best to help people - don't profess to being an expert on Ribs - which is why I have asked so many questions here! Also try to be polite and never attack people personally - ah well......
