WTD: New 90Hp 2-stroke

Where can I get a new 90Hp 2-stroke and how much am I likely to have to pay for it?

Diveclub needs a new motor and don't have any money!

Cheers,

Orve.

I was under the impression that dealers are no longer (after 1st Jan 2007) allowed to import new 2 stroke outboards into the UK - apart from a small number of outboards for racing purposes (racing to the pub apparently doesn't count though) ...

I have a freind who may be selling a Mariner 90HP 2 stroke Carbed engine. It has done few hours and is in excellent condition.

If you are interested I will let you know more once he has decided if its up for sale.

Optis and Etecs are 2 strokes...

It might be worth talking to Mobile Marine-he was apparently doing some cracking deals on optis. Not sure if he's dong them on 90s though.

There are still a very small number of brand new Tohatsu 90 carb two strokes. Try Jon at National A1 Marine.

Correct:

You can still legally import a carburetted 2 stroke only if its use is for racing i.e. zapcats or commercial fishing.

There is no current ban on importing spare parts for the motors so there are lots of spares available for all the existing engines.

IMHO, you could in fact get around the ban by buying all the spare parts i.e. block, leg carbs electrics .etc, etc. and assembling them for yourself. Of course this would be ridiculously expensive.

You can still buy New Mariner and Mercury Carb 2 strokes, You just have to be a commercial user.
