Yamaha 115 CETO 2 stroke

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience use of these engines?

I have just noticed that my local Yamaha dealer has 2 for sale. one 2005 and the other a 2006. Im half wandering to see if he would part ex my twin 60's for one.

Im sure the 115 would go better than the twin 60's but what would fuel be like? Generally at the moment im cruising at 3,200 rpm and 20knots. Any ideas what the 115 would be like?

I know this i a bit of a general post. But any info regarding the strengths or weaknesses of the Yammie 115 and any idea whether there will be much diff in performance and economy from switching to a single 115 rather than twin 60's?

Many thanks

Thanks for the link, from the marks on the props they look like the same pair.

I guess the Yammie dealer is doing his brokerage thing as they are £300 per engine cheaper if i went direct. But i would then have to sell my engines separately and all the hassle that it involves.

Anyone have any idea on what a 1997 60hp Mariner 2stroke is worth? i have loads of paperwork for them and them seem to be running well.

Around £900-£1300 each, depending on hours & condition.

Thanks DHD, seems my initial idea of swopping the 2 for 1 engine + a little cash doesnt look so good.

Oh well, i may well send them a mail, wants the worst they can do? Do you know the guys at West Wales Yamaha?

Does anyone know if the 115 2stroke is a good reliable engine, its a Yammie so surely it is?

The V4 115 Yams are good, solid motors, reliable, but a little thirsty.

I've met/spoken to the people at West Wales Yam (husband & wife?), but haven't done business with them, so can't comment, other than they appear to be friendly & helpful.

How much were you thinking of asking for your 60s?

Surely the 115 cant be as thirsty as the twin 60's though, cant it? One of my main reasons for thinking about the change is the possibility saving of some fuel at cruising speeds, though i know it wont be significant. The other is that my other half has small hands and so is finding the twin side throttles a bit difficult to use.

I was hoping to get around the £1,500 mark for each. As i said they both have lots of history and have side mounted Quicksilver controls, rev counters which have hr meters in (though i dont believe the hours are right) and new props this year, (one is a recon the other a mercury black max), but i would have to be able to sell both for that amount to be able to get the Yammie.

Its a bit higher than what you said so i think the idea may go in the back burner until more funds appear.

Cheers

Ed
