Following on from my post elsewhere about finding my old (2002) Quicksilver fuel line that came with this motor was starting to delaminate internally treated the motor to a new Yamaha OE line/primer assy.

6mm ID was the advised for my 15hp but fittings mostly suit the 8mm ID hose better so bought that size...

Firstly, thanks to @Fenlander for such a good thread on this 2 stroke. I’m interested as I have a Mariner 15hp and a Mariner 4hp both 2 strokes. Guess that puts me in the smokers shelter too.
Way back at the beginning of the thread you had fitted a Tachometer - do you have a recommendation for one of these as the cheap tach/hour meter I fitted to my lawnmower was rubbish. I want the Mariner to have something more accurate and reliable. Cheers

Edit If I should have started a new tread please move, don’t want to take this off topic

I've had three of the Mariner 15hp types and one of the 4hp models… all 2-strokes and all excellent motors.

Folks with the cheapest mini Tachs under a tenner have often found them poor re reading accuracy or standard of waterproofing... not everyone but enough folks for me to up the budget a bit.

So I now just buy this one type...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Ta...EAAOSwe-Rei1Ac

When researching I found this model seemed 95% identical to the Quicksilver one sold by Mercury dealers for £80... and also very similar to the original Tiny Tach that sells for £80.

Note like the two expensive ones mentioned mine has an earth wire as well as the trigger wire and I assume this enables it to screen out unwanted pulses the cheaper ones might allow to confuse the reading.

So for £18 it seems a good price.

I do look after mine as you will see because once initial prop testing is done and I get a feel for a new to me outboard's sound at particular revs I mount the tach under the hood as a hour/tuning meter where it's out of the salt spray.
