Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke.

Hi all,

I'm going to have a look at a 2002 Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke autolube tomorrow.
The seller is happy for me to check the compression of the outboard which I plan to do but what sort of compression would be good from this outboard and what sort of compression should tell me to run away?

Any other advice or things to look out for would be great.

Thanks

Where do you start, General condition, Does if feel lumpy on turnover?
I dont know the compressions but when hand pulled does it feel equal?
And compressions should ideally be taken when engine warmish but cold no problem.
Self oild mixer so check the oil, see if any leaks and that there is 2 stroke oil in there, not carlube shite etc. red blue or green oil,., is good
Take the plugs out and look at the colouration from previous runs etc, prob a bit dark as two stroke.
Condition of the prop .. Prop Gear Bearings. is there any side by side movement. take the lower gear oil screw out quickly and see if the oil is milky.?

If the owner hasnt hit you
Continue!

Any paperwork docs etc

The test results must be more or less the same on each cylinder

That seems a bit low to me considering that my 15hp Johnson is 120psi.
