Yamaha 30 hp

Can anyone tell me if the Yamaha outboard 30 hp is positive or negative earth please? Also which battery would suit this motor? Thanks.

Negative earth.

We fitted the smallest 12V battery I could find at our local battery suppliers - some thing like 30Ah iirc

I've got a 40 odd A-H one powering my 60Hp......

Once it's spinning it's self sustaining, so you don't need a huge battery to keep it alive. (especially as you can pull start it!) If you have a ton of electrionics on board there may be an argument for a bigger one....
