Yamaha 30D blip at idle

hi all

I recently serviced my Yamaha 30D 2 stroke outboard after it was running a bit rough at idle.. fine cruising and WOT but just clunky when idling..

I did a full carb strip, clean and service but when I put it all back together...

It isles okay then every now and then it will glitch.. like it vacuums or one of the pots sticks.. it squeaks, fumbles and carries on..

Being a novice, I have visions of one of the pots imploding.. anyone got any ideas? Especially ones that just involve a tweak and not a head rebuild... 😳

Have you balanced the carb linkage, this needs doing every time the carbs are removed.

Linkage is fairly static but I have leaned out the carbs and re-balanced them that way..

You need to back off the idle screw all the way. Undo the left hand threaded screws on the carbs throttle linkage. Check throttle roller isnt holding one carb open, then all the butterflies shut and tighten up the screws to ensure all butterflies are exactly in sync with each other.

You can then set up the ideal speed and mixture adjustment - the 30d unusually has a different base mixture setting for each carb
