Yamaha F150 speed sensor

I cant find the inlet for the water speed indicator sensor on my engine, the web seems to suggest that it should be on the leading edge just above the gearbox - but its not there.

Hi, just measured mine, it's 215mm below the cavitation plate. If it's blocked use a 2mm drill bit by hand to clear any debris. Hope this helps.

They are hardly used anymore. You can use a gps NMEA output to the Yamaha gauges to read far more accurately than the pitot pipe on the gearbox.

Thats a fair point, for my own purposes I rely on ground speed almost exclusively, but for teaching Powerboat courses its nice to show the difference in tidal water and rivers.
