Yamaha hpdi engine hours

Hi all,

I have an 03 hpdi 150 that I bought in 2018. The three years prior to me buying it, it had sat on the Harbour wall as the tubes had gone.

Since 2018, it’s been serviced thoroughly by me and completed around 40 hours. Before putting her back in the water this year I thought I would do a yds check, as I had no paperwork for the engine hours when I bought her.

Anyway after 20 years I expected at least 1000hrs but the yds is only showing 341 hours and that can’t be right. As it’s linked to the ecm, I am presuming at some point she’s had a new ecm.

Would this sound right? And if so, is there any way of getting the correct engine hours?

All other diagnostic looks normal apart from old issues that are now resolved.

Thanks in advance

Personally i think the hours will possibly be correct ,i have a console here that has done zero hours since i bought it off a guy in jersey a few years ago as i suggested its now decorating my decking instead of your patio ,also a 2014 Honda on my ribcraft which has not done a hundred hours yet at 8 years old !
Welcome back ,at least you have sussed the yds ,i havnt managed that yet and i bought it 4 years ago

could you check the date of manufacture on the ECM (ECU) see if it matches the date of the outboard

Those hours will be correct. Regularly come across engines of a similar age with far fewer hours on

Can’t say I’m unhappy. Engine seems to be in really good shape.

I can’t believe you haven’t used it yet. Probably makes a nice garden ornament

The part number and end figures are definitely from an 02 hpdi so I’m taking it, it’s the original ecm.
