Yamaha Malta impellor housing advice

I've changed a few impellors over the years but they've always been straightforward so I dont know if anyone with more experience could advise me on this please, I've just picked up an old Yamaha Malta to use on a tender it runs fine but isn't pumping water and sure enough the impellor blades are shredded. Looking inside the housing though the cutaway/water outlet was jammed with what I initially thought was rubber but turned out to be what seems like molten plastic? The impellors was in place still minus the blades. Ive scraped away at this to try and make a clearway outlet to the water tube but its not brilliant. Ive also noticed that the metal cup for the impellor sits higher one side than the other ie one side is flush with the base side of the O ring the other sits a lot prouder almost past or higher than the o ring and nearly flush with the plastic face that mates down onto the leg? Any thoughts. . new housing? regards AL

+ 1 for the price it's a no brainer when you think of the downside of no water circulation !!
