Yamaha /mariner 6e9 40hp outboard rev limiter removal?

Does anyone know how to remove the rev limiter on a twin cylinder mariner/ Yamaha 6e9 40 Hp outboard, I've been told it's possible ?
Anyone know?

Hi Jim, it's Seumas.

can you get a photo of your CDI box? Not sure about the 2 cyl but on the 3cyl yams there's a grey wire that loops out of the CDI box then back in

what rev limiter? The wide open throttle revs are controled by the propeller, too small a pitch higher revs, a bigger pitch lower revs. Do not over rev the power head, it could go BANG, and end up very expensive.

So maybe there is no limiter, my research seems to indicate that these motors safely rev to 6500rpm, all steel one piece crank and little danger of blowing the bottom end so maybe there is no limiter ? :-/
